It Should Be Paying You More

Ben McAdam

The business is making more money. But the business owner isn’t.

It’s not a revenue problem.

I’ve been in this position myself, and I’ve seen it in a lot of businesses.

Maybe this is what it feels like for you now?

Revenue looks good on paper, but when it comes time to pay yourself, things feel tight or inconsistent.

Maybe you haven’t had a proper pay rise in years, even though the business has grown.

You’re working hard because you want to grow the business, and you’ve heard that hard work and hustle are important to grow it… but there’s a sneaking suspicion that you’re not getting paid enough.

You keep pushing for more sales, more effort, more hours, but nothing really changes.

It’s easy to naturally assume that if revenue is up, the business is working.

That when things feel tight, the answer is more sales.

To think that if you just grow the revenue, things will sort themselves out.

But really, revenue is the wrong number to chase.

The real constraint in the business is how much of that revenue the business keeps.

It needs to be profitable revenue.

You might be realising that something isn’t working the way it should.

You might even have a quiet thought in the back of your mind, whispering: “for this level of stress, I should be getting paid more than this.”

The problem isn’t that your business isn’t making money.

It’s that it’s not keeping enough of it where it counts.

If the numbers don’t match the effort anymore, I’m working with a handful of business owners this month to fix that. Reach out for details.
