From Borrowed Time to a Business Worth Building

Celine sent an email two weeks after her first coaching call.

It wasn’t prompted. No one asked for feedback. She just wrote.

“Our calls have re-ignited my spark and opened my eyes to the potential of my business and numerous opportunities before me.”

That was July 2025. What happened over the next nine months was bigger than either of us expected.

Where Celine Was

Celine runs a digital marketing agency. Google Ads, Meta Ads, SEO, websites. She’s good at it. Clients stay for years. Revenue was steady and growing, up 25% year on year.

But she was doing work she increasingly hated.

Ad platforms were getting harder to manage. Accounts shut down without warning. AI tools catching up to what she could do manually. As she put it: “The writing’s on the wall. We are on borrowed time.”

She was underpricing her work. Clients she’d had for four years had never seen a price rise. She was at capacity, running on referrals, with no clear plan for what came next.

And she was doing it alone. “It can be a lonely road as a business owner at times,” she wrote. “It’s great to feel like I have someone I can ‘talk things out’ with who gets it.”

A serious accident a few years earlier had shaken her confidence and drained her energy. She was working long hours for not enough return, getting her sense of self-worth primarily from how the business was going, and dealing with a multi-year legal dispute that consumed her attention.

She had the mindset. She had the ability. What she didn’t have was a clear direction.

What We Worked On

1) Financial Clarity

First step was understanding the real numbers.

We reviewed the books, identified clients who were significantly underpriced, and mapped out what even modest price adjustments could unlock. We found subscription savings where she was overpaying.

More importantly, the financial review changed how Celine saw her own business. The revenue was better than she thought. The profit potential was higher than she’d imagined. The gap wasn’t ability or effort. It was pricing confidence and strategic direction.

She sent her first price rise email before our next call. “I was a bit nervous,” she said. “I’m like, you know what? Just going to do it.”

2) From Ads Manager to Consultant

The bigger shift wasn’t tactical. It was identity.

Celine’s real value wasn’t managing ad accounts. It was seeing the full picture: how content feeds SEO and ads, how ads feed email, how all of it connects to revenue. Most specialists can’t see the forest for the trees. Celine could.

But she’d been selling herself as the person who pushes buttons in the ad platform. Not the person who tells you which buttons to push and why.

We set a theme for 2026: transition from ads manager to fractional CMO (Chief Marketing Officer). Fewer clients, higher fees, strategic work instead of execution.

“I need to be less operational and more strategic,” she said. And then she started building toward it. AI certifications through MIT. A new consulting entity registered. Reaching out to clients, past clients, leads. New structure, new direction, new energy.

3) Retirement, Sorted

We worked through property investment strategy together: borrowing capacity, out-of-pocket costs, lease structures, depreciation. She acquired her first investment property with a long-term guaranteed lease.

Eight months after we started working together, she had financing approved for a second.

Between the properties and her other assets, her long-term financial future was handled. The only question left was earning well in the meantime.

“Now that I’m a baller, all of a sudden obtaining finance is easy,” she said, laughing. “I’ve peeked through the curtain.” This came after she was initially declined for a home loan in the earlier years of her business.

Results

Within nine months, Celine went from a solo ads manager with no strategic direction to a business owner with a clear plan, a consulting entity, two investment properties, and her financial future secured.

AI tools now save her over 20 hours a month on reporting alone.

She’s building a business she actually wants to run.

From Celine

“I really appreciate your knowledge, but also the kind and gentle way in which you’ve guided me.”

“It’s been really energising to chat, as it can be a lonely road as a business owner at times. It’s great to feel like I have someone I can ‘talk things out’ with who gets it.”

If This Sounds Familiar

Celine’s story is common among agency owners. Revenue is decent, skills are strong, but the work feels wrong and the direction is unclear.

The fix wasn’t working harder. It was stepping back, looking at the whole picture, and building something that matched where she actually wanted to go.

If your business is running but it doesn’t feel like yours, let’s talk about how to change that.
